Default In the Middle East?

I remember ever reading in a blog that in desert areas in the Middle East, you cannot leave your car outside after it's washed and detailed. Otherwise you would find your shiny car covered by dust and sand as if it hasn't been washed for years.

We live near a coal fired power plant, and the orange dust that gets blown into the air on a daily basis means that a newly shined car won't last that way for more than a week. So, I can only imagine what an extremely sandy area would do to a car.

Yeah, that's true Porche. I forgot to mention that it takes only five minutes to get it covered by dust and sand. So, I wonder if the car owners in those areas would even bother to get their cars detailed.

They probably wouldn't, unless they are car enthusiasts and had somewhere safe to keep them when not in use, like an enclosed garage. They could at least keep the interior detailing up, and use some kind of protective wax polish on the outside.

Any time you live near a beach you tend to have that kind of a problem. I experienced it myself when I lived within five minutes walk from the sand, but the salt was more of a concern.

I'm trying to imagine how big cities in the Middle east look like. I'm sure they've got concrete roads and pavements just as any other place on earth. But since they live near the desert, dust is not a distant concern. It can even travel for a hundred mile or two. I suppose they've got enclosed garage like they do in Sicily.
