Default Paint Chip Repair

How do you deal with paint chip repair? Specifically, is there a way to prevent it happening completely, and if not how do you go about repairing it without it being visible?

The best way to deal with chipped paint is prevention, by making sure the bodywork is always clean and protected, and to limit its exposure to the elements. But sometimes accidents do happen, and unless you are a professional panel beater/spray painter or have some experience with this, it is very difficult to get a scrape or blemish on the paint looking like new again. The spot needs to be smoothed out if there's a dent in it, the paint needs to be sanded back and the touchup paint needs to be color matched perfectly.

911 Porshe is so right .....

You CAN do spot touch-ups with a paint from the manufacturer, but it requires a very very steady hand and the ability to cut-polish.

It's why automakers started making 'bras' for cars and trucks: that's the most commonly chipped area of paint, and the 'bra' protects the front end from it happening.

Oddly enough my car is ok there. But there's pretty much a handful of chips on every panel of the car. Only two are serious, but I need to get them treated-the others can be felt, but not seen.

Other than the bras you can't prevent, but really, how you treat comes down to how much you care about aesthetics. I personally use the touch up kits, and if you are careful you can't see the repair from a distance.
