Default "Self healing" paint

Have you heard of this new kind of paint that self-repairs minor flaws? I've heard a lot about the "self healing paint", but I can't find where to buy it.

I have never even heard of it. I will have to google it, that could be interesting. How would that even work? I just can't picture watching my car fix a ding in the paint by itself .

I'm not sure it's available to consumers for sale. I know Infiniti, Nissan and maybe even Chevy have started using it on some vehicles, but I haven't heard of it being sold over the counter, so to speak.

It works by activating the chemicals when it is scratched, broken open. The sun heats it, and basically has the molecules bind back together. Very cool concept.

Never heard of it. Sounds like it would really be helpful for those little dings from rocks, other doors, etc. I wonder if it will just be the standard in a few years?

I have heard about it. What I have read about it is that for tiny dings, light scratches and swirls in the paint finish, it works. I guess it's still being researched by the auto makers.

Yeah, I've heard of it and have tried to locate some, but what I've learned is that it's not commercially available yet. Some auto makers are starting to use it though.
