I have a dark windshield because I hate the glare when the sun is coming up or going down. The glass also lessens the glare at night whenever I meet a vehicle that has a very strong light.
Where I live (Australia), it is illegal to have tint on the windscreen. You can have a strip of tint about 30cm wide along the top of the screen but that's it. Just be careful as it may help with glare- it might also impair your vision...
