Default Towel or Air Dry

When you wash your car, do you dry it by hand or do you let it air dry? The paint on my old '94 Accord is a bit faded, so I usually just let it air dry, but on the new cars I've had, I've always towel dried them. What about you?

Whenever I wash my car, I get a soft cloth and towel dry it. There's no use in going to the trouble of washing it if you end up with spots and streaks.

I use Rainex car washing solution, and I live in a place with very low humidity most of the year. I don't need to worry about spots with the Rainex, and it air dries before I can wipe it down anyhow.

I do some light towel drying as a rule after washing the car, but I'm not fanatical about it. Sometimes I do just like it air dry; just depends on my mood and schedule for the day.

Definitely towel dry or chamois so you don't get spots. That sort of spot comes off easily wet, but is quite difficult to get off afterward.

It depends on the vehicle.

The Fiero GT fastback, air-dry, and buff up with a dry towel. The old Buick was towel-dry, or it needed a really thorough waxing, and I mean, THOROUGH.

I thought my Dad was going to have a heart attack the day my kid brother showed up with Armor All.

I let it air dry always. I don't want to scratch the paint on it by drying the car. You never know you could have dust or something floating in the air and then rubbing the car with a towel could scratch it.

I like to towel dry the car after washing it. I love to see it sparklingly clean and I could almost see my reflection even if it's grey and doesn't reflect.

I'm one of those crazy people that when I do get my car washed, I dry it by hand. When I let it air dry I can see all the water spots on it and it drives me insane.
