How do you keep the underbelly of the car clean? I have seen some get real rusty! I have mine sprayed down with oil right before winter starts. I'm not sure what this does but it is supposed to keep it from rusting. Anyone else do this?

I have never done that before but the spouse actually takes care of that one for me. The only thing I have seen people do at a car wash is using a high pressure hose to clear the gunk out and then drive so it air dries quick (freeway).

Well, to be honest, I ignore the underbelly of my car unless I have to get under there for something (like changing oil, or wiring up the muffler, or whatever). Of course, I don't live where they salt the roads, so that is less of a concern here.

It bet it's the salt - you are right. I also go and wash the underneath of the car at the car wash. I don't drive really quick though to air dry it! I don't think washing it takes the oil off of it.

My son oil sprayed the underside and panels of his car. It's good protection against the salt but it gets messy looking when it starts to seep out around the door panels. Myself, I make sure I wash under my truck, but it's easy to do because it's so high off the ground.

I wash mine a lot in the winter when they salt the roads because that is what eats away at the underbelly and causes it to rust. I have nver heard of spraying it down with oil before.

There is so much salt used on our roads that you almost have to spray the under surface with an oil spray to keep rust from developing. And when I go to the car wash, I always make a point of spraying under the car with lots of soapy water.

That is exactly what I do Lindsey (well my hubby). When he first told me what he was going to do I thought he was crazy! Not much salt here yet (no snow) but I'm glad we sprayed it already.
