Default Waterless Detailing

There are a wide range of products available for waterless detailing. The question is, are the chemicals involved worse than just using the regular solutions and water?

Sometimes the waterless options are good in areas and situations where there are water shortages. When I lived in the Southwest, there were water use restrictions in place.

That makes sense, Guy. I think I'd prefer sticking with water (for the outside; Windex or something for inside), personally, but in cases of water shortage, it's nice to know there are other options.

I have never used one myself as I always thought somehow I could end up messing it up, but speaking of this now. If tomorrow ends up being a little nicer than today my baby needs a good wash down, dirty as anything right now.

Good point. It will defeat the purpose of not using water. Though, I think there are some green products which whose ingredients don't include harmful chemicals. I couldn't recall the brands though.

I've not seen or heard of any green brands up until now, so that's why I was so concerned by these products. If they were better for the environment, I'd be less concerned.

I agree that water is the best, but there are places that really have been hit by droughts in the past. I guess it depends on how important detailing your car is for you.

Another proof that I am clueless, I did not know that there were products in order to detail the car that were waterless. Won't you have to use tons of product to clean a very dirty car? I do hope that there are green products for this. I bet the regular ones are not that good for the environment.

I would fear too that using them would perhaps scratch the car. It seems that water is gentle, and allows you to rinse away heavy grime first.
