With the mildly abrasive action of polish, how often can you use it and not damage the paintwork? Or else, is it more a case of polishing too hard that causes the damage?
I think you've got it-its a combination of overuse and too much scrubbing with polish that does the damage. It will eventually work its way through the top coat and into the paint itself.
