Rust Spots

I have an older Dodge that is just begining to show some rust spots around the edges of the hood. What can I do to prevent these from becoming larger without having the whole vehicle sanded and painted?

Well, it's easier said than done, but here goes: gently sand the rust spots down. Then apply some body filler and then three coats of primer, letting it dry in between. Finally apply some paint. Once it's dry, make sure it matches the rest of the car, repainting if necessary.

Thanks RoseRed. That sounds like it will work but I think I'll wait until the spring to give it a go. Sounds like a warm weather job or one for a body shop. I do hope I can touch it up without repainting the whole car.

It might be worth it to take it to a body shop just to see what they say they would do to it. I would ask them to explain their process and then see if it was something I could tackle on my own or not.
