I don't know if I would want to buy a car from a rental car service. It's been my experience that they just don't seem to be well made.

I think that "new car" smell is just the smell of all the materials in the car as it comes off the assembly line. I'm sure they treat everything,like the upholstery, leather, etc with something that gives it all the smell that it does.

That's all part of the holiday season for most of us. Travelling. We always make the best of it with games we can play on the road. Helps pass the time in a fun way.

That would do it. It will take some time for the rotors to wear down the pads and that's probably where the shaking was coming from.

Most salvage yards that buy junk cars have their own tow trucks. They simply take the fee they would usually charge for the tow and take it out of the final price they pay you for the car. It's still a pretty good deal.

I've heard of that but I haven't tried it yet. I'm still "sticking" to my WD-40 and can of De-Ice spray for the winter time when they freeze up. I'll definitely remember this though.

I would pack some "just in case" supplies. Make sure the spare tire is good........Jack...check....Extra oil, fluids and water.....check....Blankets and extra clothes....check. People make their own list of course, but that's pretty much mine.

How many of you are going out of town this year? AAA always has stats about this sort of thing and I believe they said higher then normal numbers of drivers are going to be hitting the roads.

That is a lot of loss, that's for sure. But as someone else pointed out, flood insurance isn't something people think they need and with budgets being as tight as they are most people aren't going to buy something they see an unneeded.

I would hold off and see if it's going to happen. If anything, you'll save money on payments you're not going to make. If you can get by on one car, yeah, I would definitely wait.
