    Old Toothbrush

An old toothbrush is great when washing the car. I use it to scrub (softly) around the mirrors, the bumpers and around the door to the gas cap. It works great in all the little spaces a brush or sponge won't fit. Anyone else use an old toothbrush when washing the car?

    Speakers In The Doors

I have a 1994 Honda Accord, and the front speakers are in the front doors. Well, both are busted and I'm wondering if this is a job I can take on myself. I've always been cautious about trying to remove the door panel, as I'm afraid it won't go back on right, and the hole in the metal (where...

    More Southern Tornados!

Here in Birmingham, AL, if you remember, we had several strong tornados go through areas all around us. Just recently (a couple days ago), we had more. Two people in the area were killed and lots of businesses, schools and homes were destroyed. It's just been so warm here lately (on and off...

    Rest Areas

When travelling on the interstate, do you often stop at rest areas? They can be great sources of information for your destination, with brochures and discount coupons. It's a good place to stop and stretch your legs, although I don't recommend hanging around there at night. You just never know.

    Cleaning the Engine

About once per month, I'll take my car to the self-service car wash and spray clean the engine. Of course I cover the distributor and the coil, but everything else is degreased, scrubbed and rinsed. I firmly believe this helps your engine run better and cooler. I've been doing it for years...

    Races

Do you enjoy going to the car races? There's a little drag strip not far from me, and every now and then, my nephew and I will go. I'm not big on drag races, as I like stock car racing better, but it beats doing nothing on a Saturday night.

    Gps

Do you have a GPS in your car? I bought one a few month ago because I was going to Florida, but I haven't used it since I got back. Most of the places I go, I already know how to get there. I think they'd be good for people who travel for a living, or travel for pleasure, but for me, it's not...

    Loaning Your Vehicle

Would you loan your vehicle to a friend or family member? Do you? As for me, no sir! I've seen how my friends and family treat their stuff, and I'm not letting them treat my car that way. Yeah, some may consider it rude, but I consider it taking care of my own.

    Do You Know Your Mechanic?

Do you? You should? If you're going to keep your car running right and keep it for a long time, you should know your mechanic. My mechanic owns a small garage and does everything that needs done to my car. He keeps all the old parts for me to examine and keeps a log of everything he's done...

    Burnouts

What do people get out of doing burnouts? It's not good for the engine or transmission, and it eats up your tires. So what if you can make your tires smoke. I think mostly it's kids (teenagers) trying to show off their "muscle car." Once they have to replace a couple sets of tires and an...

    Bad Storms

Here in Alabama, we've had bad thunderstorms and some tornados most of the day today. As I watch the news, our governor has declared a state of emergency in our state. It seems like bad storms hit us about every 3 or 4 days now.

    Squirrels on my Car!

I got up this morning and walked outside to get something out of the car, when I saw three squirrels, just sitting on the roof of my car like they belonged there. They finally left when I got closer and I didn't see any damage to the car. But I've never seen a squirrel sit on a car!

    Cheaper on Gas

I am going to have to get some kind of motor cycle or motor scooter or something. These gas prices are KILLING me! It's costing me $60 right now to fill up my 1994 Honda Accord. That's rediculous! I remember when I used to be able to fill it up for $15. Geeze!!

    Baseball!

Is anyone as excited as I am about the start of the major league baseball season? I love baseball, I guess it's my favorite sport, and I love watching many teams, including the Braves and they NY Yankees. And baseball always means the start of warmer weather!:heh:

Secret To A 300,000 Mile Car

There are ways that you can make your car last for 300,000 miles without costing an arm and a leg... Always buy parts with lifetime warranties, when available. That way, you'll never have to pay for that part again. Be easy! Jackrabbit starts and brake-squealing stops limit the life of a...

    New Cell Phone

I finally got around to getting a new cell phone, after I'd lost my old one. It's funny, but I didn't miss the phone as much as I thought I would. It's a good thing though, because financially I just couldn't get another until now. I'm like a 12 year old kid on Christmas morning  .

    New Member

Hey everybody, my name's Mark. I came across your forum somehow (I'm not even sure how I got here), but I like it. I'm a big car guy myself, and I do a lot of travelling on my job, so I'm always looking for ways to help take better care of my car. Anyway, it's good to meet you all.
