    Used car buying tip

The Craig's List thing bothers me, so I understand the driver's license issue. People have to be careful these days. I think I'd just look for a used car somewhere else. Craig's List bothers me, so I don't go there for much of anything, except to see what yard sales are going on.

    AC or mileage?

AC or mileage We live in a hot, humid state. Some days it would be unbearable not to have air conditioning, especially inside a car where degrees can mount so high you could die in there if the doors were closed. We run the air conditioning.

    Toddler falling out of car

I just saw that video where the child fell out of a speeding car when the driver was doing a fast turn while fleeing in a police chase. Incredibly, the child got up and ran after the car. There should be a special place in jail for criminals like this.

Legendary car designer died at 89

It amazes me that someone can pursue a dream job like car design and end up making enough money to live well. We don't encourage our young people to follow their dream jobs as much as we should. People like Shelby prove anything's possible.

    Clean your baby!

Clean your baby I have my car cleaned, but I do a pretty decent job of cleaning it before I take it to be washed and cleaned. It sounds like overkill, but I am convinced they do a better job if they don't have to go through layers of cleaning at the car wash.

    Business supporting electric cars

Electric cars I don't want an electric car of any kind because I would never want to have to tether it to a plug somewhere to recharge. I guess we all change our minds, but it sounds like an enormous amount of trouble.

    Time change

We were at church bright and early, but it was so tempting to stay home this morning. I am one of those who wish we'd set the clocks at the half hour mark and just leave it alone. I never can get used to the time changes.

Put A Chip In My Diesel truck

Chip performance Congratulations on making such a move. I hope you'll find the same thing my friend did. He pulls a trailer around the country and really speaks highly of the one he put into his truck. He swears he wouldn't have it any other way.

    $1,000 poorer

I finally got my car back from the auto repair shop. My brakes now work, the steel in my tires is no longer showing, and I can now roll the passenger side window up and down. I'm a happy camper, but my checking account is hurting. It's always something, isn't it?

    Dry gas or gas cleaner

I've been driving for many years and never even heard of moisture in a gas tank. Is this some new thing they want us to spend money on when we don't need it? My cars have always gone when they had gas in the tank.

    Road trips

Now that spring is around the corner, my wife and I are planning a road trip. We're not sure where we want to go, but we'll probably just head west and end up crossing the mountains of North Carolina or Virginia and then deciding from there where we want to go next. Where are others going on...

    Maintenance Schedule for New Cars

Changing oil Her car was only four years old. She just thought it would go forever. So while it was not exactly new, it should have lasted much longer than it did. All she needed to do was change the oil when it was due.

    The Ride

Cross-country bicycling We ran into a guy one time who was riding across country from California. He was in North Carolina by then, and his bike had broken down. We offered to take him home and let him stay with us that night. He did, and the next day we gave him a ride to the Manteo, where...

    Watch out for that tree!

Trees and cars A tree can really smash up a car. Those things just don't move out of the way. Ice will also send you spinning into whatever is nearby. It pays to be alert at all times and even then you can't be completely safe.

    Jiffy Lube

They just want to keep their jobs and bring in business. My nephew used to work with them, and it's just the way the whole country is working now. There is advertising everywhere. Repeat business means people keep their jobs. Consume. Consume. Consume. You're the customer.

    Car makeover

Makeover I wish someone would make over my car. It's in need of a good cleaning both inside and out. The closest it's going to get is a trip to the automatic car wash, I'm afraid, for I just don't have the time or inclination to do it myself right now.

    Labor charges

People in this country charge as much as they can get out of you. With car repairs, they often know you're at their mercy. The same thing has happened in the medical industry and the funeral business. They have billboards advertising their service. We pay for those billboards!

    Maintenance Schedule for New Cars

Change the oil All it takes is one replaced engine due to not changing the oil on a regular basis is enough to make you rethink that 3,000 mile thing. Believe me, for it happened to my sister. She thought she could drive forever, I guess. She does it religiously now.

    Why is it?

Always someone else The young folks blame the old folks. The old folks blame the young folks. Men blame it on women. Women point the blame on men. It really is just human nature. The mature ones of us admit when we're wrong, but sometimes it takes us awhile.

    Motorcycle money

I was watching Donald Trump's "The Apprentice" last night. There was this Harley Davidson, tattooed guy on there who evidently knows people with all the money on the planet. Are there really that many rich people who can write checks for $300,000 at a whack for a friend's charity event who are...
