    Road Trip Prep

I'm about to drive halfway across the country for the holidays. The car just had an oil change and fluid top off, and the tire pressure is good. Is there anything else I should do to the car to prepare for a long trip?

    Captain's Chairs

We have captain's chairs for the first two rows in our Mazda 5. They are pretty nice, but sometimes I think a bench for the second row would be more useful. We'd be able to seat an extra person anyway. What are your thoughts on captain's chairs?

    Going to Mechanic Today

The check engine light came on in my Miata, so I took it to the auto store and they told me it was a P0126 error, which deals with coolant temperature. Apparently it's likely a broken thermostat. I have an appointment at the dealership today to get that fixed and get an oil change since I was...

    Volvo Polestar S60

The LA Auto Show is going to have (among other things) the Volvo Polestar S60, which can go from 0-62 mph in 3.9 seconds. They take a standard Volvo and tweak it; the S60 has 508 hp and 424 ft-lbs of torque. It sounds pretty sweet!

    Car Wash Fundraisers

Do you ever get your car washed as part of a fundraiser? I wouldn't mind but generally when I see them I'm out with my husband. He is too particular to trust high school students to properly wash the car.

    Hypermiling

Hypermiling is purposely altering your driving to increase gas mileage and includes things like going the speed limit, slowly accelerating at lights, or even things like drafting 18-wheelers. Do you hypermile at all?

    Halloween Rides

This may be a day late, but I still thought it was cool. Enjoy the slideshow of Halloween/supernatural themed cars. I recognized most of them before reading the caption; did you?

    Chevy Volt

If you had the money, would you buy a Chevy Volt? Alternatively, would you rather get a different electric car or a hybrid? I think the Volt is pretty cool and would definitely buy it but it’s out of my price range at the moment.

    Porsche Panamera Platinum Edition

I just saw this news article about the Porsche Panamera Platinum Edition arriving next year. I was drooling initially, but then I saw the side profile, which I do not care for. What are your thoughts?

    Eating in the Car

Do you ever eat in the car? Do you let others do so? We eat in the car but our kids are too young to do it right now without making a big mess, so we don't let them.

    "Scooter" Car

I live in an area with a lot of tourists, and a local place rents what they call "scooter cars". They are little tiny two seaters with no top and look to be about the size of bumper cars. Shockingly, they are street legal. I saw one yesterday pull out in front of an SUV and they were lucky...

    Soft Top Repair?

There is a divot in my Miata's soft top, thanks to a bird pecking on it (thanks, bird). The only good thing is that it isn’t pierced completely through. How can I repair the divot?

Chevy Models Unavailable in the U.S.

I read this interesting article discussing certain Chevy models that you actually can't buy here in the U.S. I wasn't aware they sold different cars overseas.

    Gas Price Variations

Within about 30 minutes of my house, I see gas prices that vary as much as 20 cents per gallon! It's totally crazy! I wish I had noticed the cheapest one before I filled up, but at least I found a median price and not the highest one.

    Do It Yourself or Pay?

Do you prefer to wash and clean your car yourself, or pay someone else to do it? I will do it myself sometimes when I'm in the mood, but I'm much more likely to take the car in and read a magazine while someone else does the work.

    Spinning Hubcaps

I know some people think they are silly and cliched, but I love spinning hubcaps. I don't have any myself but admire them when I see them on other cars. What do you think of spinning hubcaps?

    Tire Air Frustration

My tire pressure warning light came on today, so I stopped to get some air. The first place I went had no power, but I didn't discover that until after I had already put in some quarters. :ohwell: I had to go to another place, get change, and then fill the tires. This was all with a toddler...

    Replacing Windshield Wipers

My Miata's windshield wipers are in sad shape, so I need to replace them this weekend. How often do you replace wipers? Is it on a schedule or just when they stop working well?

    Cars & Sea Salt

We just moved to the beach and salt is now a major concern. What can I do to protect my car and how often do I need to do it?

    Scary Moments in the Car

I was driving through a heavy rainstorm today when a passing SUV drove through a huge puddle and threw water all over my windshield, to the point where I couldn't see. This lasted for a couple seconds, which seems like an eternity when going 55 miles an hour. Have you had any...
