Solution is as suspected i.e., catalytic converter is plugged...probably both.
Engine was misfiring for a time and the unburnt fuel caused by misfiring has contaminated the catalyst and caused the plug up of exhaust system resulting in great loss of power.
Moral of story....if this happens to you don't put off repairs to correct misfire...it could cost you big time.
Question is where to go to purchase new converter without having to remortgage the farm?

I live north of the 49th parallel. Does that answer your question? Firstly you can't buy catcon's from after market's that will fit and secondly they are still in the extreme price zone....by the way, sorry I took like six months to reply. It's cold up here...:)
