I have a 1991 Dodge Ram Van B250, 318 automatic/overdrive. At 50 mph and above the van makes a rumbling sound and is felt thru the body not in the steering wheel. I have new tires and they were balanced. This started before the new tires.I was told it could be the universal joints. If they were bad wouldn't they clank when you put it in gear? They dont. Any suggestions?

Lets try something. With the truck stopped and the transmission in park, rev the engine to the rpm that you normally get the vibration at when going 50+.

If you have a hanger bearing, check that, if not it could be dry, seized up u-joints,...thay may not clank if they are seized. also check to see if your drive shaft is straight and running true..it maybe bent or a good dent will also cause a vibration....missing drive shaft weights...?
