Streaks in Windshield

I finally washed my car this week, but when it came time to clean the windshield, I couldn't get it clean AND streak-free. I used Windex brand glass cleaner and paper towels, but now I'm wondering if my windshield isn't made of glass, because it still streaked... REALLY bad.

What do you use to clean your windshield and prevent streaking???

Try diluted vinegar and newspaper. Vinegar will cut through anything that is leaving a residue, and newspaper has always been best for cleaning glass, in my opinion.

I use vinegar as well. I've never tried the newspaper trick, though, I just use paper towels. Vinegar works like a charm; I use it on my mirrors, too.

Thanks for the vinegar/newspaper tip, MaximumSpeed. Seems like I've heard of the newspaper trick, but I've definitely never heard about using vinegar. I'll give it a try next time I wash the car.

Take a bucket of really hot water, add a cup of white vinegar and a squirt of mild dish soap. Use this mix to do your windows and mirrors as it cuts through the greasy film that builds up from road exhaust.
