White Blinkers Illegal?

I have been looking all over the net for an answer to this...

I recently revamped my stock headlights. I painted the insides to match my truck and removed the amber colored reflectors. I know they sell bulbs that appear blue when off, but flash yellow. I really like the looks of the white blinkers, but am not sure of the legalities here in MA. I am not worried about them even if they are illegal because the police have a lot better things to do than harass me about the color of my blinker so either way I will be keeping them. I would just like to know for my own knowledge.

I'm pretty sure they are. The reason behind that is because all colors need to be the same so when people see them, they associate them with the correct action. It's kinda dumb in my opinion but I guess there must be a good reason behind it.

U.S. Department of Transportation says turn signals must be amber. You can have a clear or white cover, and they make bulbs that are white, but blink amber. Getting pulled over for it is another thing. But why give them a reason?
