First motorcycle - make a recommendation

I am thinking about getting a motorcycle. The thing is that I want to get the best deal because I am not loaded right now. How much would a good starter used motorcycle cost. What are the best kinds for beginners?

I was told smaller bikes. But what I would do is go to a dealer, actually a few dealers, and just sit on the bikes and see what feels comfortable to you.

Will this be your first bike? Used is definitely a good idea because the clutch will be a worn in a bit and easier to get the hang of, and if you ding it it won't bother you as much as a new shiny bike. I have no idea what prices would be like these days, especially for used bikes...shop around?
