Mark you oil filter!

If you tend to get your oil changed at a lube shop it is a good Idea to mark the oil filter on your car. I once read an article on how some shops will just wipe your filter to give it a "new" look, rather than actually changing it. It is a good idea to put a scratch (like an X) on your filter. This way you can check it to ensure it was actually swapped.

Wow! Thanks for the tip TBird! I had no idea that this sort of thing happened at lube places. I need to put a mark on my filter, because I take mine in when I don't have time to do it myself.

I've talked to some mechanics that say they do that. Some people will come in every three months no matter if they drove 300 miles or 3000. Still think it is wrong either way.
