Replacing Car Stereo

I've been thinking about replacing the stereo in my car. The buttons on the front are wearing out, so sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. Is this an easy project to tackle, or should I just take the car to a professional?

If you don't know your way around the electronics in your car I would probably take it to a professional. A lot of places offer free installation if you purchase the stereo from them. My better half wants to replace mine too so that he can put in a stereo with bluetooth and iPod connections but I keep putting him off.

I think you're right. We have a local car stereo store that I've been meaning to look into, so I think I'll check them out this weekend. I don't know if they install for free, but maybe I can run some price checks with multiple installers and find something reasonable. I'd like to have a stereo in the car with an iPod dock if I can find one that I can afford.
