    Do You Trust Rest Areas

I seldom stop at the ones that are like parks along the interstates. I travel alone a lot and they just don't seem very safe to me. I'm sure they are and it's just me, but they are places where undesirables could hang out waiting for a victim. I stop at truck stops, towns and places where...

    What Would You Do?

I've often wondered what I'd do if my car broke down at night in an area where my cell phone doesn't work. I suppose if there was a house real close, I would go to it and ask to use their phone, but if there wasn't, I think I'd just wait it out until someone came looking for me. What would you do?

    You'll be glad you did....

I know how to change a tire, but I don't know how much good that would do if I'm driving the pick-up. I don't think I could lift the tire up to get it on the wheel or even get the truck jacked up enough. I do agree, though, that everyone should know how to change them. On the car, it wouldn't...

    The color?

I have never thought about it. I usually am more interested in the engine (no 4-cylinder) and the features (not that I require many). Also, I usually buy used, so the color is usually just whatever it happens to be (no really awful ones, though).

    What's The Reasoning?

I've never understood that. Why would the government want to encourage adding ethanol when it costs more to produce it? Don't they realize the prices are already high enough. They don't need to be pushed higher.

    Making It Right

What can you do if you take your car to a mechanic and he doesn't fix the problem, but still wants to charge you? Are you obligated to pay him for labor if the problem isn't fixed?

    Trash & Clothes & stuff

Tabby, you're not the only one. I'm so bad about keeping my car cleaned out. There's really no excuse for it because all we'd have to do is take everything out of the car when we get home each time. Does anyone have any cures for car slobs?

Flat tire repair "stuff" in a can

I've used it. It's called Fix-A-Flat and it works great to get you to a place where you can get the tire fixed. Like Jason said, it's for a small hole not a slash. Be sure to tell whoever fixes the tire that you've used it because it can be dangerous for them if they don't know about it.

Food and drink in the car

I don't blame you! It seems like no matter how careful you are, food and drinks get spilled, usually at the most inopportune time to get them cleaned up. Your friends will get used to not eating and drinking in your car. It just takes a little time.

    Body Shops

How do you pick a good body shop? I have a bit of rust on the car I normally drive and I'd like to get it fixed. I'm concerned about the paint matching up and the repair being permanent. Are there any questions I should ask before I decide what body shop to take it to?

    Need to be done regularly?

I get my wheels balanced when I get new tires and then don't mess with it unless I have reason to believe one became unbalanced. Same for the front end alignment. If there are signs that it needs to be aligned, I take it in. Otherwise, I don't mess with it.

    Kids In The Front Seat

What do the laws state about kids riding in the front seat? Don't they have to be strapped in a car seat that's secured to the back seat until they reach a certain age? When can they ride in the front seat?

    Towel or Air Dry

Whenever I wash my car, I get a soft cloth and towel dry it. There's no use in going to the trouble of washing it if you end up with spots and streaks.

"Driving too fast for conditions" is ticket-able

I think it's great that you can get a ticket for driving too fast on less than optimal roads. Would patrol men be very quick to ticket drivers in cold, snowy weather or would they tend to look the other way?

    Traction On Slick Roads

This probably isn't right, but someone told me that you can remove some of the air in the tires to get better traction on snowy and slick roads. Is that right? Even if it is, is it something you should do?
